Most famous and the most decorated stećak is the one from Zgošća near Kakanj, from XV century. It is considered that it belonged to Stjepan II Kotromanić, but there is no valid evidence. Now it is located in the garden of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.  Also, there is a replica of this stećak in Sarajevo, in front of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The oldest Stećak is one dedicated to Grdeša, a XVII century Duke of Trebinje. Vlatko Vuković's stećak near Stolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from late 14th century is also well-known. The epitaph on it was written in Bosnian Cyrillic. Duke Momčilo's tombstones, in Vrućica near Teslić are also well-known.
